Ololade Oletubo

Ololade Oletubo is a Nigerian-born mixed media artist based in the United Kingdom whose practice explores the intersection of culture, identity, memory, and environmental sustainability. Since beginning her professional career in 2018, she has developed a distinctive artistic language through drawing, painting, and the innovative use of reclaimed materials, transforming discarded objects into compelling contemporary artworks.

Her work is rooted in the belief that art can inspire both cultural reflection and environmental responsibility. By combining traditional artistic techniques with sustainable practices, Oletubo creates richly textured pieces that celebrate African heritage while addressing global conversations around sustainability and social change.

Her work has been presented in solo exhibitions across Nigeria and the United Kingdom, including at the MUSON Centre, Nike Art Gallery, and the African Centre, London. She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions in Nigeria and Uganda, and has spoken at leading art platforms including Art X Lagos, the Dak’Art Biennale International Symposium, CCA Lagos, and the African Centre.

Oletubo is the author of Beyond the Canvas (2024) and Art and Sustainability (2025), publications that reflect her commitment to creative education and sustainable artistic practice. She is a member of the Guild of Professional Fine Artists of Nigeria (GFA), the Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA), and the Africa Arts Association (AFrAA).

Through her multidisciplinary practice, Ololade Oletubo continues to contribute to the evolving landscape of contemporary African art, using creativity as a powerful tool for storytelling, cultural preservation, and environmental awareness.
